THE SOLAR PATH

The Solar Path is a journey into vitality, self-mastery and developing a deeper relationship with Prana, the life force that sustains us and all of existence.

Where the Moon practice invites us to slow down, turn inward and cultivate stillness, the Solar practice is more dynamic. It is about awakening our inner potential, building strength and learning to direct our vitality with intention. The challenge is to find the balance between cultivating the power we need to excel in life and developing the sensitivity required to experience the subtler dimensions of reality.

In this practice, we begin to explore the body as a vessel of Prana. Through a more dynamic approach to Asana, we incorporate backbends, lateral movements, Namaskars (salutations) and conscious Vinyasa, with a particular emphasis on opening the chest and upper body. We also focus on developing the inhalation, recognising its important role in cultivating vitality and expanding our capacity to breathe.

As the practice evolves, we are introduced to deeper Tantric techniques, including Kumbhaka (breath retention), Bandhas (energetic locks) and Mudras (energetic seals and gestures). These practices allow us to work with Prana more consciously, increasing our ability to contain, direct and refine it.

However, cultivating power is not the objective in itself. Power without mental stability can become destructive. The Solar Path requires a steady, calm and grounded mind, alongside the discernment to understand how and when to apply our strength. It is not simply about generating more, but learning to conserve, manage and use what we have wisely.

Consider this: the world is an ocean of energy, and we are an inseparable part of it. Yet, like a vessel that leaks, we can easily become depleted or scattered. Through practice, we begin to recognise where our vitality is going, what diminishes it and how to develop the capacity to retain and direct it more effectively.

Ultimately, the Solar Path is about becoming a more conscious vessel of Prana. It is about cultivating vitality without agitation, strength without aggression and power without losing our connection to stillness.

Always take the Moon with you.

The stability, sensitivity and mental calm developed through the Moon practice are essential companions on the Solar Path. One without the other creates imbalance. Together, they allow us to explore the full potential of our practice.

The Solar Methodology

The intention of the Solar practice is to enliven and sensitise the body, breath and energetic system.

The methodology includes:

  • Asana: Backbends, lateral movements, Namaskars (salutations) and conscious Vinyasa to awaken vitality and stimulate the body.

  • Pranayama: Developing and refining the inhalation to cultivate and expand Prana.

  • Kumbhaka: Introduction to breath retention and its relationship to mental focus and energetic stability.

  • Bandhas: Introduction to energetic locks to contain and direct Prana.

  • Mudras: Introduction to energetic seals and gestures to refine the movement of Prana.

Is the Solar Path Right for You?

The Solar practice may be particularly beneficial if you:

  • Are feeling stagnant, lethargic or lacking motivation.

  • Have been experiencing low moods or feelings of sadness.

  • Want to cultivate a more positive outlook and greater enthusiasm for life.

  • Experience poor circulation or a general lack of vitality.

  • Want to develop a deeper understanding of Prana and explore the energetic dimensions of yoga.

  • Feel mentally grounded, stable and calm, and are ready to explore a more dynamic practice.

The Solar Path invites us to take responsibility for our own vitality. It teaches us that strength is not simply about how much we can generate, but how intelligently we can harness and direct it.

It is a path of awakening, empowerment and refinement, learning to become a conscious vessel through which Prana can move freely, be contained and ultimately directed towards a greater purpose.
