Fire in the Navel
In Tantra philosophy, much of human suffering stems from identification with the three lower chakras. These energy centres are linked to the primitive brain and store deep-rooted patterns of fear, survival instincts, attachments, and the drive for control or status. While essential to human experience, they can keep us bound in cycles of reactivity and limitation.
The liberating force from these patterns is Rudrani—the awakened kundalini at the navel centre. Symbolised by the fierce and compassionate Goddess Durga, Rudrani represents resilience, inner power, and invincible intelligence. When activated, this energy helps reveal qualities that may lie dormant: confidence, willpower, clarity, and the strength to transform your life from within.
The Manipura Chakra, or navel centre, is the most accessible and stable site for awakening kundalini. Unlike the root centre, which is more concealed and unpredictable, the fire at the navel provides a steady and transformative force. Foundational Hatha Yoga texts such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita highlight this centre as the key point where Pran Vayu and Apana Vayu merge to kindle Jathara Agni—the inner digestive fire.
Fire, as a symbol of purification and transformation, plays a central role in this awakening. When Rudrani is stirred at the navel, it fuels physical, emotional, and spiritual evolution. Through targeted breath-work, postures, and meditation, we can ignite this fire and awaken our deeper potential.
To embrace Rudrani is to reconnect with your innate vitality, courage, and capacity for healing. It means meeting life with grounded strength and unwavering trust in your inner wisdom.
