EIGHT LIMBS OF YOGA - Samadhi
Samadhi — Absorption with Pure Consciousness
Samadhi is often described as the pinnacle of yoga practice — a state where awareness, perception, and clarity come together in a single, profound experience of being.
As we journey deeper into practice, our perception becomes more subtle. We begin to truly see the qualities of whatever we place our attention on. With time, the separation between the meditator and the object of meditation softens. In the more advanced stages, the two begin to merge. This is why choosing an appropriate meditation object matters so deeply — it becomes the pathway that carries us inward.
Samadhi marks the culmination of the spiritual path. It reveals truths that stretch far beyond the limits of our personal identity. In this state, the labels of “this” or “that” fall away, and what remains is simply I am — pure existence, unbounded and whole.
The sacred mantra So Hum beautifully echoes this experience. Meaning “I Am That,” it reminds us of our connection to the greater reality that underlies all things. Samadhi lifts our consciousness into this spacious, transcendent awareness.
When we begin to touch this “Awareness of Pure Self,” even briefly, our lives start to shift. Decisions become less entangled with the small stories of who we think we are, and more aligned with the timeless truths revealed through practice. From this space, we shape not only our future, but the deeper trajectory of our destiny — guided by clarity, wisdom, and the light of inner knowing.
